The Story of Daniel in the Lion's Den: Another Story of God's Miracles and Daniel's Faith in God

I love the story of Daniel in the Lion's Den in the Bible. It is a beautiful story of a man of faith, who prayed and believed in God. He was unfairly treated by his workmates and others and was unfairly put in a den of hungry lions to be consumed/killed.  People were envious and jealous of him, they didn't like that he prayed and believed in God. Can you imagine that? How many of us today are persecuted or mistreated because we have faith in God, pray, or have fervent religious belief  about life and abortion, etc.? God loves each one of us so much! The key to all of this is not to put your focus on your problems, but on your all-powerful God and Protector. We all need to put our faith in God to rescue us!

At sundown, Daniel was thrown into a den with lions. The king could not eat or sleep all night. At dawn, he ran to the lions' den and asked Daniel if his God had protected him. Daniel said:

"My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king." (Daniel 6:22, NIV)

Scripture says the king was overjoyed that the prophet had survived his night with the lions. God had sent an angel to close the mouths of the lions. Daniel was brought out, unharmed, "...because he had trusted in his God." (Daniel 6:23, NIV) His faith in God had protected him.  King Darius had the men who falsely accused Daniel arrested. Along with their wives and children, they were all thrown into the lions' den, where they were immediately killed by the lions in the den. The lions' den story represents Daniel's captivity in Babylon, where God protected and sustained him because of his great faith in God.  God was not concerned with man’s laws. He saved Daniel because Daniel obeyed God’s law and was faithful to Him. While the Bible encourages us to be law-abiding citizens, some laws are wrong and unjust and are overruled by God’s commands. The greatest message from this story is to pray, keep the faith, and trust in God and know that he will protect you always, this is a real miracle and blessing God offers to each one of us. While you may be mistreated or unfairly treated in a situation in your life, you do not need to fight the battle yourself, turn it all over to God, have faith and trust in Him and he will protect you from anything.  With faith in God, all things are possible!
