Character Matters: Keep Quiet Within, That We may Build up in Our Hearts the Temple of God!
The Lord my God hath given me rest on every side.
- 1 Kings 5:4
Building of character is the great work of our lives! So many forget this though. They instead cheat, steal lie, are greedy, corrupt, selfish, and just do so much bad. They act like they can take it all with them and getting so much money is going to make them look better, even though they did it underhandedly. It is so sad to see. We see this today a lot from our elected, government officials, and powers that be. They all become such slaves for Satan. However, character matters to God!
The Mornings with God App today said, "This was part of the preparation for the building of the temple. Times of quiet in one’s life should not be idle times. There is other work to do then. These are days for temple–building. True living is not all activity – struggle, conflict, gathering money, toiling with one’s hands. Building of character is the great work of life. This goes on best in the quiet. We ought not to wait for idleness to compel us to be still; we should get the quiet into our life even in our busiest times. We must have a restful spirit if we would build up the inner temple. There should be “silent times” in every day’s life. The secret of Daniel’s noble character, while carrying a great part of the burden of the kingdom of Babylon was that he never forsook the place of prayer. Not even fear of the lion’s den could make him neglect devotion. There is no other secret of a true and noble life amid the world’s strifes and trials. We must keep quiet within, that we may build up in our hearts the temple of God."
Like it says above, "Building of character is the great work of life. This goes on best in the quiet." We need God in our lives. We need to pray and trust in the Lord and follow Jesus. It is all about character building. This is what matters. Most today forget about this. They instead do so much to cheat, steal and lie. We see it from all the head honchos today. Very sad to see. There are very few real leaders that have any sound character today. They disgrace their name and reputation for the pursuit of money and power at any cost. Not thinking at all of their honor, reputation, or being able to get into Heaven. God has grace for all of us. He gave us Jesus as an example of how to live, we are called to reflect Jesus! We can change, we can turn and go in the right direction. It is sad to see so many who don't even very old people, it is quite a disgrace. God is a great, loving, forgiving, and merciful God, but with Him, character does matter! Remember with Daniel, prayer is part of it all, in your character building!
