Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me. You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do!

 

Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi

and he asked his disciples,

"Who do people say that the Son of Man is?"

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,

still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

Simon Peter said in reply,

"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Jesus said to him in reply, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.

For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.

And so I say to you, you are Peter,

and upon this rock I will build my Church,

and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.

I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.

Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;

and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Then he strictly ordered his disciples

to tell no one that he was the Christ.

From that time on, Jesus began to show his disciples

that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer greatly

from the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,

and be killed and on the third day be raised.

Then Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke him,

"God forbid, Lord! No such thing shall ever happen to you."

He turned and said to Peter,

"Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle to me.

You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do."

~Matthew 16:13-23

Everyday we need to be reminded of this and say the same as Jesus, get behind me Satan. We need to be careful. The devil is at work in us, he wants us to be his slaves and do all his dirty work, hurting each other and destroying all, stealing our souls. We need to be careful! Jesus reminds us of this here in this Bible verse. We need to live in Spirit, not of this world, we need to know we have eternal life in Heaven with Jesus if we live in Spirit and follow Him, reflect Him, and imitate Him. We are called to follow Jesus. We live in topsy turvy times for sure, when you drive, someone is always cutting up off, running so close to you, being so aggressive. Even in the supermarket and in public, yesterday someone even cut in front of me in line at the supermarket, today most are so selfish, and we see the decline of moral decay all the time, so many do not live with God, or imitate Jesus, like the young lady who cut me off yesterday. All we can do is pray for them, bless them, move on, be at peace and not let it rattle you. We need to say the same as Jesus, get behind me Jesus. I always say when you wake up in the morning, you need to remind yourself and say, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." The devil is lurking at every corner, we need to be ready for it, we need to just say get behind me, handle all with love and peace, even if you are mistreated or persecuted, or cut off, or taken advantage of. That is all we can do. This Bible verse offers good advice for all us humans! Get behind me Satan!
