When we do things God’s way, we experience a peace that’s indescribable. We Need to work with God in fulfilling His purposes!

 

He went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him.

God gives us instructions for life! One of the biggest things is following the 10 Commandments. He gave us a Bible with both Old and New Testaments, very old and wise, with so many instructions and teachings of Jesus for how to live while on this Earth School journey. We are called to be disciples too, to live upright and holy lives, following Jesus and imitating and reflecting Him in all we do. We are called to obey God and follow Jesus! They offer the precise instructions to follow for success! 

Our Daily Bread spoke recently of how important it was to follow recipes, and be precise in how we obey and do what we are supposed to do, they start by telling a story saying, "Jocelyn’s bestselling dish at her food stall was her congee. She’d stir the rice porridge very carefully until it had a smooth consistency. So, she was startled when a regular customer said, “Your congee tastes different. The texture isn’t as fine.” Jocelyn’s new assistant had prepared it this time and explained why it was different: “I didn’t stir it as long as the recipe said since that’s how I do it at home. I also added more sesame oil. In my opinion, it tastes better that way.” She had decided to ignore the recipe and do it her way instead. This is how I sometimes respond to God’s instructions. Instead of fully obeying His commands as given in Scripture, I subject them to my opinions and proceed my way. Naaman, the commander of the Syrian army, was on the verge of making a similar mistake. On receiving God’s instruction through the prophet Elisha to wash himself in the Jordan so his leprosy would be healed, the proud soldier got angry. He had his own expectations for how his need ought to be addressed, believing his opinion was superior to God’s command (2 Kings 5:11-12). His servants, however, convinced him to listen to Elisha’s words (v. 13). As a result, Naaman was healed. When we do things God’s way, we experience a peace that’s indescribable. Let’s work with Him in fulfilling His purposes."

Things always work out much better when we follow God! We need to obey His Commandments, the teachings of Jesus, and be people of goodwill. We cannot ignore the teachings, God wants us to be precise. Don't let your opinion interfere and do it differently, do what God wants us to do. Obey Him, follow Jesus, be upright and holy, people of goodwill. We cannot ignore the recipe of God and do it our way instead. We need to follow God’s instructions always and precisely! Instead of fully obeying His commands as given in Scripture, I subject them to my opinions and proceed my way, this is a no no. Follow God, listen to His commandments, the teachings of Jesus, be a person of goodwill, following the recipe to the T! Healing and miracles can by yours too when you follow God's ways!
