All we can do is turn to God, not lose heart, know that He can renew us each day with His greatness and love. We are living in broken times. We see our governments and society as broken and hurting. So much pain, evil, greed, corruption, fraud, mediocrity, yes, we live in a broken world, we see it in our government and powers that be, today when you call an elected official, or go to a county office, we are treated poorly, or not have a call returned by the county commissioner., etc.  We see so much scurry and aggression on the roads and stores, so many without any thought of others, all living so selfishly, take and taking, yes, it can be as if we are weary travelers here, it is easy to lose heart. One needs to prepare themselves spiritually for life and its disappointments and poor treatment, it is easy to lose heart, humans always disappoint, but God never does, although we feel as if we are wasting away, with God, we can have our inner self renewed by God each day when we follow Christ!
