Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it!

 

While Jesus was speaking,

a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,

"Blessed is the womb that carried you

and the breasts at which you nursed."

He replied, "Rather, blessed are those

who hear the word of God and observe it."

~Luke 11:27-28

Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it! This is key! We need to be obedient to God, we need to follow His Commandments and we need to live without sinning, hate, violence and lawlessness.  Today we see too much sin, hate, violence, and lawlessness, so many excuses for justifying it, but it does not make it right. This is what God wants for us. He wants us to follow Jesus! He gave us Jesus, Jesus is Emmanuel, our God with us. Jesus is our model, our example of how to live. We are called to follow Him, to forgive, to reflect, to imitate, and to love like Him! Are you observing the word of God? Are you following Jesus? Do you reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him? Do you want to go to Heaven? If you do you need to follow Jesus and observe the word of God! When you do, miracles, blessings, and life eternal in Heaven are promised to you by our God! The women was right in this Gospel passage today, "Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed." But Jesus knew this blessing, and He gave strict orders to remind her that what is most important in this life is to hear the word of God and observe it! To not sin, to follow and be obedient to God's word and the 10 Commandments! Do you know what the real blessing is?
