It’s not what one has, but what one is, that counts with God!

And a beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores.

- Luke 16:20

Yes, we need to remember that a poor person who loves God and faithfully does their duty is far richer than a millionaire who never thinks of God or cares for others.  It’s not what one has, but what one is, that counts with God! We need to remember that! Even when another person disappoints, hurts, or treats you badly. Even if it is a priest, someone well off, or some elitist who think they are better. What God cares about is who we are and our faith in Him!

The Mornings With God App today said, "In this world, the rich man appeared to have the better life—he had wealth, luxury, and power, while the beggar had nothing, and no one seemed to care for him. The only friends the beggar had were the dogs. But after death, their situations were reversed. The beggar died first, and though there was no grand funeral, he was carried by angels into a place of blessedness. The rich man also died, and while his funeral was full of pomp and splendor, he found himself in torment. He looked up and saw the beggar, now comforted and at peace, far above him. The lesson is clear: it’s not what one has, but what one is, that counts with God. A poor person who loves God and faithfully does their duty is far richer than a millionaire who never thinks of God or cares for others." Found at: https://www.youdevotion.com/mornings/november/23

I have always loved this story of Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man lived not even bothering with Lazarus. He lived for his riches, not even thinking about others, especially the poor. We need to care more about the poor. We need to live a life of faith in God. We need to know God and follow Him! Be like Jesus! Are you doing what it takes to count with God? Or are you living like the rich man who showed no care for others, just consumed by your wealth and who you are on this Earth School? We really all need to think hard about how we are living today! How we are treating others! Do we care about others and know God? Do we have faith in the Lord?
