Lawlessness, it was a problem back then and is still a problem today!
The officers of the king in charge of enforcing the apostasy
came to the city of Modein to organize the sacrifices.
Many of Israel joined them,
but Mattathias and his sons gathered in a group apart.
Then the officers of the king addressed Mattathias:
“You are a leader, an honorable and great man in this city,
supported by sons and kin.
Come now, be the first to obey the king’s command,
as all the Gentiles and the men of Judah
and those who are left in Jerusalem have done.
Then you and your sons shall be numbered among the King’s Friends,
and shall be enriched with silver and gold and many gifts.”
But Mattathias answered in a loud voice:
“Although all the Gentiles in the king’s realm obey him,
so that each forsakes the religion of his fathers
and consents to the king’s orders,
yet I and my sons and my kin
will keep to the covenant of our fathers.
God forbid that we should forsake the law and the commandments.
We will not obey the words of the king
nor depart from our religion in the slightest degree.”
As he finished saying these words,
a certain Jew came forward in the sight of all
to offer sacrifice on the altar in Modein
according to the king’s order.
When Mattathias saw him, he was filled with zeal;
his heart was moved and his just fury was aroused;
he sprang forward and killed him upon the altar.
At the same time, he also killed the messenger of the king
who was forcing them to sacrifice,
and he tore down the altar.
Thus he showed his zeal for the law,
just as Phinehas did with Zimri, son of Salu.
Then Mattathias went through the city shouting,
“Let everyone who is zealous for the law
and who stands by the covenant follow after me!”
Thereupon he fled to the mountains with his sons,
leaving behind in the city all their possessions.
Many who sought to live according to righteousness and religious custom
went out into the desert to settle there.
~1 Maccabees 2:15-29
Lawlessness, it was a problem back then and is still a problem today! I think I know how some of them felt back them in the day of this Bible verse. I agree, sometimes I wish I could go to a remote island away from all the lawlessness I see each day. It can be very frustrating. Today we see a lot of excuses for sin, hate, violence, and lawlessness by Godless people who have become slaves for Satan for sure! There are just so many excuses for all this sin today! Excuses for sin like killing babies/abortion, breaking laws, abusing drugs, hurting others, entering our country illegally, SNAP fraud, disrespecting police and authority, just so many excuses for all this lawlessness today in our country and world.
The Bible and Jesus are very clear about sin and lawlessness, hate and violence coming from it all too, it just is not healthy for peace in a society for its people. So many today want lawlessness and anarchy. Some use the term "social justice" to take matters into their own hands becoming violent, lawless, and do criminal acts, but this is not right either, just excuses, insecurities, for sinning and being lawless. Social justice has become a woke term for anarchy by the godless. The excuses for all the illegal immigrants coming into a country out of greed, envy, and jealousy, then breaking all the laws and acting like it is their right, to sin, commit crimes, just be completely lawless as if it is their right. I do not like what I see in society directed toward the ICE and police while they try to enforce our laws today. People broke them coming into the country illegally, and then when there is enforcement, they think it is their right to spit on cops or act out violently toward them when they are just paid to enforce our laws by our own government. They should direct all their concerns toward the elected who make laws, not the police and ICE who are just asked to enforce our laws here with their violence and hate. It is very unfair and so mean. Countries all have laws for a reason. We need law and order in all societies; it is necessary for healthy living in a community.
It is sad today too to see our legacy media promoting lawlessness and illegals over enforcing our laws and having law and order. Today the mainstream media is complicit with the law breakers in promoting chaos and lawlessness here in the USA. It is sad to see. Today we see so much hate, violence, lawlessness, and excuses for all this sin, by the lawless. They sin and sin and never want anyone judging them, criticizing them, or telling them they are criminals for breaking the law. They talk about social justice, but at the same time are violent thugs destroying the country, government property, and hurting our law enforcement. It is all wrong, the anarchist want lawlessness, some may be paid by the billionaire hater deep-staters, but it is all wrong, sin is wrong, crime is wrong, lawlessness is wrong, there is no excuse for all of it, although the lawless and their supporters want to justify it with their hate and violence.
I applaud our government and leadership for cracking down on all these law breakers, thugs, and anarchists who are doing this today in our country and around the world. I am sure it does not make our God very happy, especially when they hurt and kill innocent police and ICE Officers in the process just for enforcing our laws. A society/country needs laws. We all need law and order to function properly. The sinners like to be irresponsible and make millions of excuses for sin, hate, lawlessness, and violence, but this does not make it right, their social justice violence of taking law into their own hands is unjustified. It never does have merit. Love always wins over hate. Don't join a hate club. Don't fall into lawlessness and act like you are taking it into your own hands because you think you are right, or an elitist like some we see, yet breaking the law or hurting police, the country, or its citizens, it is all wrong, excuses, sin, hate, violence, and lawlessness, it is all wrong and there is no place to justify its correctness. None! Read the Bible, follow Jesus, be about love and law and order! Care about all and humanity as a whole! Stop the selfishness, greed, envy, jealousy, insecurity, and being slaves for Satan acting out violently and lawlessly. Follow the laws! Follow Jesus! We just need to remember like it says in the Psalm for today, to the upright I will show the saving power of God!
