It’s more important to have a clean heart! It’s our inner life that shapes our character! Bad qualities in a person’s heart can rise to the surface, spoiling even the finest manners and appearances!
These are what defile a man, but eating with unwashed hands does not defile him.
- Matthew 15:20
It’s important to have a clean heart! It’s our inner life that shapes our character! Bad qualities in a person’s heart can rise to the surface, spoiling even the finest manners and appearances in them. We need to be careful of how we are. Sometimes clean hands are not as important as clean hearts. Today we see so many with dirty hearts and hands, they do not want law and order and use violence to act out and become lawless, using so many excuses for all their sin, hate, violence, anger, and evil ways. It often does not reflect well on them either. So many are so fake today, they ignore you, mistreat you, or even cancel you, yet then you continue to be kind, nice, loving, and then a fake and dishonest disingenuous character comes out from them, but it is all hypocrisy and contradiction. They use so many excuses, but do not have a clean heart. Jesus knew that the clean heart was more important than washing hands, although the Pharisees followed old rules in the Old Testament, Jesus brought new ones for us, it is not about rules like the Pharisees thought, it was about being good, kind, loving, upright, and having a clean heart that really mattered. Many today, lack this, they sin, hate, are violent, and have so many excuses, trying to justify all their evil ways and thoughts, but not having a truly clean heart.
The Mornings With God App today said, "It’s good to have clean hands, but it’s even more important to have a clean heart. Some people are very careful about outward appearances, but they neglect the true moral quality of their lives. It’s our inner life that shapes our character. A bad heart ruins everything; it’s a source of impurity. There’s a story about a lady who touched up a photograph of a dead child, making it look lifelike. But after a few days, blotches appeared on the picture because something in the paper ruined the image. Similarly, bad qualities in a person’s heart can rise to the surface, spoiling even the finest manners and appearances. The Syrophoenician woman wouldn’t leave Jesus until He healed her child. We often give up too easily when answers don’t come quickly. Her persistence paid off, and so can ours." Found at: https://www.youdevotion.com/mornings/january/18
Will you wait for Jesus? Will you do it with a clean heart? Being honest, upright, holy, and having a clean heart, not fake, full of hate, rage, negativity, and violence? Jesus can change you if you follow Him! Be persistent in Christ! God wants us to follow His son, He wants us to reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him! When we are like Jesus, when we have a clean heart, this is what really shapes our character! Remember that tomorrow we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr and all he stood for. He also talked about character. He said, "I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." This is what is most important, the content of our character and having a clean heart!
