Jesus is really talking about insecurities in this Bible verse, they come from within, many people have them, hate, envy, jealousy, they come from within and cause so many problems in our society and world today!
Jesus summoned the crowd again and said to them,
“Hear me, all of you, and understand.
Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;
but the things that come out from within are what defile.”
When he got home away from the crowd
his disciples questioned him about the parable.
He said to them,
“Are even you likewise without understanding?
Do you not realize that everything
that goes into a person from outside cannot defile,
since it enters not the heart but the stomach
and passes out into the latrine?”
(Thus he declared all foods clean.)
“But what comes out of the man, that is what defiles him.
From within the man, from his heart,
come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder,
adultery, greed, malice, deceit,
licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly.
All these evils come from within and they defile.”
~Mark 7:14-23
Jesus is really talking about insecurities in this Bible verse here, they come from within, many people have them, hate, envy, jealousy, deceit, malice, greed, arrogance, pride, selfishness, etc., they come from within and cause so many problems in our society and world today! I have seen this in my past 40+ years working as an adult in education. I saw so many wonderful children and young people, so innocent and beautiful, many so good, some with temptations, but most good, as they go into adulthood, things change, people become insecure, and then all this list of things from this Bible verse defile them, they come from within from insecurities, jealousy, envy. This leads to hate, greed, corruption, murder, pride, so many issues in our society and world today, insecurity causes it all. We need to have Jesus inside, His Spirit, to guide us, to be about love and not let our insecurities do harm to us, like Jesus says, all these evils come from within and they defile. We need to be careful of this for sure! May we live with Jesus in us, know His love and reject internal insecurities, envy, jealousy and all this list of things that hurt others that come from within. The big one today is hate. The haters and the people with TDS, and insecurities with race, culture, diversity, need Jesus to help them come to terms with how God made each of us, how we are called to love all people and not let our insecurities hurt us or our world! Thank you Jesus for this reminder in this Bible verse, please get help for your insecurities!
