I love this quote from John Newton. I so agree. I worked as an educator for almost 40 years, and the past 28.5 in academia at a university. I saw so much pride, ego, and vanity for sure. So many without God. They think they can do all without God. So many excuses for sin, always trying to justify all, but without God. Just so many godless, the past few years I even saw so much hate, cancel culture, and woke ideology. If you did not join their club, your were hated and cancelled. I saw so much envy, jealousy, and insecurity. All of this comes from people without God and Jesus. I have had a blessed career. So much success, so many teaching awards, publications, service, accomplishments, and always excellent annual evaluations all my career. But while I lived with God in me, trying to love all my students and colleagues, doing my very best, never settling for mediocrity, I knew I was doing it all for a higher power, as yes, all human efforts are in vain, we need to live and do all for God! That is what brings true success. Do you live and work and have your being with the Holy Spirit as your source? I hope so! It really matters. It is sad to see all the hate today. All the cancel culture. None of it is healthy. People forget that love always wins over hate! God is good, Jesus is love, and we are called to live for them and Heaven! Not things of this world. Things of this world will always disappoint, people too, but God never will when we put our trust in Him! Yes, the Spirit of God is the source of all true success!
