Cling to the conviction of God’s merciful purpose towards His creatures! He will bring us peace!

It is possible, when the future is dim, when our depressed faculties can form no bright ideas of the perfection and happiness of a better world,—it is possible still to cling to the conviction of God’s merciful purpose towards His creatures, of His parental goodness even in suffering; still to feel that the path of duty, though trodden with a heavy heart, leads to peace; still to be true to conscience; still to do our work, to resist temptation, to be useful, though with diminished energy, to give up our wills when we cannot rejoice under God’s mysterious providence. In this patient, though uncheered obedience, we become prepared for light. The soul gathers force.

—WM. E. Channing

Cling to the conviction of God’s merciful purpose towards His creatures! He will bring us peace! I love this quote and thought, so many today are so negative, so full of hate, just living in misery. It does not have to be that way. We are watching a movie now called the Whales of August with Bette Davis. It is an amazing movie, so beautiful in Maine in the summer. The one sister in the movie is old, losing her sight, and just so negative. The other sister Sarah, is kind, positive, loving, and still has a spark for life. It is interesting to see how some people can sour so much in life while others can remain positive, full of joy, and happy. How are you? Are you staying prayerful, grateful, positive, loving, and joyful in the Lord? Or like Bette Davis's character in the movie, so negative, hateful, and just in so much misery? God can give us so much peace, when we cling to the conviction of God’s merciful purpose towards us! As we age, we need to try our best to be happy, to live with a spark in our eyes, to keep loving!  God can bring us peace if we let Him! Passion and truth, that is all we need! A red rose for passion and a white rose for truth! We need to stay positive!
