It’s a powerful idea to live as though we are dead to sin. A dead person cannot sin! Can we try to be dead to sin?
Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin.
- Romans 6:11
It’s a powerful idea to live as though we are dead to sin. A dead person cannot sin! Can we try to be dead to sin? Today many people do not want you to talk about sin. They do not want any judgement and live as if anything goes. We are at a point today in society that we make a lot of excuses for sin and hate. We see so much abortion and the killing of innocent unborn babies, so many excuses for this and the sin with it. The same for hate and so much crime, fraud, corruption, and evil we see, even from our government and elected, many from the liberal left for sure, it is so sad to see all the sin and hate. But often times, we just cannot fall into that regimen. We need to rise above the sin, hate, and mediocrity, and live dead to sin the best we can. We are called to follow Jesus, to live like Him! To reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him!
The Mornings With God App today said, "It’s a powerful idea to live as though we are dead to sin. A dead person cannot sin. There’s a story about an old shoemaker who used to be a wicked man. He had a terrible temper and would throw his tools in fits of anger. But after his conversion, he never got angry again. “I am dead,” he would say. “A dead man cannot lose his temper. A dead man cannot throw a hammer.” If we train ourselves to be dead to all that is wrong, we can rid ourselves of many unlovely traits. But it’s not enough just to suppress evil—we must also cultivate what is good. It’s not enough to avoid anger; we must become sweet-spirited, gentle, forgiving, and kind. The love of Christ within us should call out the best in us." Found at: https://www.youdevotion.com/mornings/june/30
Do you want to be dead? Dead to sin? Focusing on living like Jesus the best you can, loving all, turning from sin, and making love your number one priority so to get into Heaven and have life eternal in Heaven with Jesus? It is true like it says above that we need to realize that it’s not enough just to suppress evil—we must also cultivate what is good. It’s not enough to avoid anger; we must become sweet-spirited, gentle, forgiving, and kind. The love of Christ within us should call out the best in us when we follow Jesus and try to live by His example!
