The souls of the just are in the hand of God,
and no torment shall touch them.
They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;
and their passing away was thought an affliction
and their going forth from us, utter destruction.
But they are in peace.
For if before men, indeed, they be punished,
yet is their hope full of immortality;
chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,
because God tried them
and found them worthy of himself.
As gold in the furnace, he proved them,
and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself.
In the time of their visitation they shall shine,
and shall dart about as sparks through stubble;
they shall judge nations and rule over peoples,
and the Lord shall be their King forever.
Those who trust in him shall understand truth,
and the faithful shall abide with him in love:
because grace and mercy are with his holy ones,
and his care is with his elect.
~Wisdom 3:1-9
Today is All Souls Day! Today is a Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed in the Catholic Church. We celebrate the lives of all who have passed, their souls, their lives, and all the love they brought us. In Mexico they call it Day of the Dead. They even used to bring favorite foods to the cemetery for their loved ones when I lived in Mexico City. I pray daily a prayer for the Souls in Purgatory [See below]. I pray daily for my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, all my loved ones and relatives that have gone before me. I pray for my spouses family too, and especially for all who have passed recently, a cousin, Dolly Parton, our friend Jane Graham, and Father John, etc. I think it is nice to say prayers for those who have passed, pray they get to Heaven and are in the arms of Jesus in peace. We often forget in a world that doesn't know God or go to church much anymore, that we need to turn from sin. We need to be more like Jesus! Like the quote above says, Jesus is our physician, He can heal us of all our sins and cleanse our souls. We want to get to Heaven with a clean soul, to repent, confess sins, turn from all, and live a life like Jesus loving all people, making love our main goal so to get into Heaven. I am sure God does not want haters in Heaven. I recently saw an obituary of an old classmate, he put in his obituary how proud he was to hate President Trump, I felt bad for him that he went to his grave with hate in his heart. I am not sure God would like that. We need to turn from all sin, hate, lawlessness, and evil, follow Jesus, be like Him, reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him! When we do with great faith, turning from all sin, we are promised life eternal in Heaven with Him! What a blessing! I loved the first reading in mass today from Wisdom, it is the type of mass reading I think so appropriate for anyone passing away or for a funeral, a good reading for today for all our loved ones who have passed. I miss my parents, both have gone before me, two years apart. They were wonderful parents and people, I pray for them daily they are in Heaven, and I still feel their Spirits so close to me. It is all a blessing from God! We all need to remember while we are alive, turn from sin, cleanse your souls of sin, Jesus can help as He is our only doctor that can truly heal us of all our sin! Say the St. Gertrude Prayer, pray for your lost loved ones that they get to Heaven, commemorate them on this special day of All Souls Day and everyday with the prayer below! We need to trust in the Lord! Those who trust in him shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in love: because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care is with his elect! Pray for your loved ones and their souls! We need to live our lives for God!
