"God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen" is an English traditional Christmas carol. It is also in the Roxburghe Collection (iii. 452), and is as well  listed as no. 394 in the Roud Folk Song Index. It is also often known as the song "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" it has no known author, but is around 500 years old and has a great deal of history.  A very old Christmas song! A beautiful song about the birth of Jesus for all of us, to save us from Satan and his power. What a blessing! I have heard of this song since I was a child, always loved it, they always play it in church every year. It brings me peace. I love the words pointed out, that Jesus was brought to us to save us from the powers of Satan, that is the true blessing. God is so good to us, He sent us an example of how to live on this Earth School to help us to get ready to go to Heaven to spend eternity with Him. Merry Christmas, may Jesus live in your hearts and minds all year, with an example of how we should all live while here on this Earth School, He is our protection from Satan, we must resist becoming the slaves to Satan, and instead be angels for God while here!  O tidings of comfort and joy!
