Another Miracle from Jesus, But the Scribed and Pharisees Don't Like His Good Deeds on the Sabbath!
On a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught,
and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.
The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely
to see if he would cure on the sabbath
so that they might discover a reason to accuse him.
But he realized their intentions
and said to the man with the withered hand,
"Come up and stand before us."
And he rose and stood there.
Then Jesus said to them,
"I ask you, is it lawful to do good on the sabbath
rather than to do evil,
to save life rather than to destroy it?"
Looking around at them all, he then said to him,
"Stretch out your hand."
He did so and his hand was restored.
But they became enraged
and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.
~Luke 6:6-11
Jesus was condemned for righteousness. He even performed a miracle! He was doing something good. The priests, scribes, and pharisees didn't like Him performing acts or good deeds on the Sabbath, but I think they didn't like it any day, they just didn't like that He was the son of God, He has powers, He can heal and perform miracles, He proved their hypocrisy and how their laws were just a pretense for going after Him. This happens today to some as well by some powers that be. Today we see a lot of hypocrisy from churches and priests, we have witnessed it too. a priest can speak so high and mighty, so well versed and eloquent, yet not practice at all what he preaches, not showing the love a priest should who is supposed to be a representative of Jesus Christ. We all need to remember that the law of love supersedes all other laws!
