Jesus observed the Sabbath by attending worship services and speaking God’s words. He also continued His ministry of kindness and healing on the Sabbath, just as on any other day. He healed the sick, cast out demons, and delivered those in trouble!
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.
~Mark 2:28
Like it says below, "Jesus observed the Sabbath by attending worship services and speaking God’s words. He also continued His ministry of kindness and healing on the Sabbath, just as on any other day. He healed the sick, cast out demons, and delivered those in trouble." Yes, we need to rest, to recharge spiritually, to give the day to God, but not to be so fanatical like the Pharisees did who were hypocrites anyway. We should always just follow the example of Jesus. God gave Him to us for a reason, He is our model to reflect and imitate. We are called to love and forgive like Him! To be good, kind, and do good!
The Mornings With God App said today that, "Jesus kept the Sabbath holy. But He didn’t follow the burdensome rules and regulations that others imposed. He taught that the Sabbath was meant to be a gift to people, not a burden. Jesus observed the Sabbath by attending worship services and speaking God’s words. He also continued His ministry of kindness and healing on the Sabbath, just as on any other day. He healed the sick, cast out demons, and delivered those in trouble. If we follow Jesus’ example, the Sabbath will be a blessing to us, not a burden. Some people find the Sabbath tiresome. But if they truly loved Christ and found joy in His presence and work, the Sabbath would become a day of delight for them. The purpose of the Sabbath is to refresh us physically, mentally, and spiritually for the work and life that follow." Found at: https://www.youdevotion.com/mornings/august/28
Yes, I liked this idea today, God wants us to rest, to reflect, to pray, to recharge to refresh us physically, mentally, and spiritually for the work and life that follow. Jesus did good things on the Sabbath, we can too, doing for others. The Gospel readings this week in mass spoke so much about how the priest, scribes, and Pharisees were so hypocritical, acting like they follow the law, yet, inside they are unclean and just big hypocrites. It is more important to do good, heal, love, forgive, and be like Jesus, not like the ones who act like they are the judge and jury, the priests and Pharisees. Every day, it is all about following the example Jesus gave us! Every single day!
