Doing God’s will as if it were my own, Yet trusting not in mine, but in His strength alone!
And, as the path of duty is made plain,
May grace be given that I may walk therein,
Not like the hireling, for his selfish gain,
With backward glances and reluctant tread,
Making a merit of his coward dread,—
But, cheerful, in the light around me thrown,
Walking as one to pleasant service led;
Doing God’s will as if it were my own,
Yet trusting not in mine, but in His strength alone!
—J. G. Whittier
It is all about God's will be done! Today we see so many fighting, angry, hating, using violence to fight against law and order. So many do not want any rules today. They make so many excuses for sin and lawlessness. Doing their will, not God's. I see it daily at the beach, with dogs, smoking, drinking, surfing in swimming areas, fishing by swimmers, the signs and rules are there, but so many do not follow them, they are selfish and do what they want. It is their will be done, they do not care about God or show respect for our laws and the other people that exist. It is the same with some today with pot smoking, they prefer that over God and Jesus. Many do not want laws enforced about illegal undocumented immigrants illegally entering the country and sometimes causes many problems in a society. We make so many excuses for sin, like abortion, killing babies, the same group that say follow the science, do not want to accept that an abortion is the murder of a baby. They even cannot even say men cannot have babies. We see elected, powers that be, and governments doing so much evil, so much corruption, fraud, and selfishness. Pushing drugs on other countries, hurting their people, enslaving others, and not protecting their Christian or Jewish populations. All of this evil, wickedness, comes from slaves for Satan, they are godless, not accepting God or Jesus, doing what they want, thinking they are right, being the elitists they are, they know best, yes, it is fine to kill a baby, or allow lawlessness, or attacking police and law enforcement. How sad! We need to pray for these slaves. They know not what they do! Or do they? They need our prayers nonetheless. We are taught and this poem above reminds us that all is life should be lived by doing the will of God! He knows what is best. He Has it in the Bible. We need to turn from sin and selfishness, and follow Jesus, we need to reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him! We need to do God’s will as if it were my own, Yet trusting not in mine, but in His strength alone!
