Like David, we were all chosen by God! He loves us so much!
At the turn of the year, when kings go out on campaign,
David sent out Joab along with his officers
and the army of Israel,
and they ravaged the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah.
David, however, remained in Jerusalem.
One evening David rose from his siesta
and strolled about on the roof of the palace.
From the roof he saw a woman bathing, who was very beautiful.
David had inquiries made about the woman and was told,
“She is Bathsheba, daughter of Eliam,
and wife of Joab’s armor bearer Uriah the Hittite.”
Then David sent messengers and took her.
When she came to him, he had relations with her.
She then returned to her house.
But the woman had conceived,
and sent the information to David, “I am with child.”
David therefore sent a message to Joab,
“Send me Uriah the Hittite.”
So Joab sent Uriah to David.
When he came, David questioned him about Joab, the soldiers,
and how the war was going, and Uriah answered that all was well.
David then said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and bathe your feet.”
Uriah left the palace,
and a portion was sent out after him from the king’s table.
But Uriah slept at the entrance of the royal palace
with the other officers of his lord, and did not go down
to his own house.
David was told that Uriah had not gone home.
On the day following, David summoned him,
and he ate and drank with David, who made him drunk.
But in the evening Uriah went out to sleep on his bed
among his lord’s servants, and did not go down to his home.
The next morning David wrote a letter to Joab
which he sent by Uriah.
In it he directed:
“Place Uriah up front, where the fighting is fierce.
Then pull back and leave him to be struck down dead.”
So while Joab was besieging the city, he assigned Uriah
to a place where he knew the defenders were strong.
When the men of the city made a sortie against Joab,
some officers of David’s army fell,
and among them Uriah the Hittite died.

Like David, we were all chosen by God! He loves us so much! While we all may do a lot of good, sometimes we fail, we sin, we do things that do not make God happy! Look what David did in this Bible verse. God was not happy with this. Likely David too, He felt guilt, He sinned and lusted after the flesh. We all sin, we all do things we regret, or do selfishly, or hurt others, or our family and loved ones. David was chosen by God. God loved Him! David always knew God, He sang songs of Psalms to God, He gave God so much praise. He was the youngest son, but was chosen, he was handsome and strong, he lusted though, he sinned. It hurt him. We are all a lot like David. We sin too. We disappoint God, sometimes our guilt then hurts us, holds us back, or even prevents us from winning again or further. Judas betrayed Jesus. Peter denied Jesus. Moses and Jacob both disappointed God. We are all not perfect. God knows this. He still chooses us, He wants us to be righteous, but we are not always upright. When we sin, we hurt ourselves, others, society, and it offends God. Sin, hurts people, it brings guilt and pain to the person, and can bring doom too. They say many women who have aborted a baby, killing it, having an abortion often carry this guilt with them throughout their lives, it brings pain and remorse, regret, and something quite psychological that last with them a lifetime. Sin has long term impact, it brings guilt, pain, remorse, regret, and oftentimes a lifetime of holding us back sometimes. We need to be careful not to sin. Not only does it pain our Lord, it puts a distance oftentimes between us until we repent, ask for forgiveness, and ask God for forgiveness. We do have a merciful God, Jesus died for our sins, He is our example of a sinless man, a human who is God with us, Emmanuel, our model for living, we are called to follow Him, to reflect, forgive, imitate, and love like Him! We are called to turn from sin, stop hating, not use violence, do not kill or steal, do not commit adultery like David did, have great faith, and live upright holy lives being more like Jesus working toward what should be our number one priority in life, our number one goal, to get into Heaven to spend eternity with Him! You are chosen like David was, do not fall for the lust and flesh of sin and things of this world. Be upright and holy, try not to sin. Try not to displease the Lord! If you do, repent, turn from sin, ask for forgiveness, and follow Jesus! You are chosen!
