J.C. Ryle said, "Self-confidence is the death of spiritual growth, but reliance on Christ leads to strength upon strength. I so agree with this quote by Ryle, I saw a lot of this while working in Higher Education at the university, especially the last several years at my university and nationally. There are a lot of people who are very self-confident, even cocky, arrogant, prideful, etc. They think they know best and it is their way or the highway for sure. They live without God and act as if they do not need God, religion, or Jesus to guide them, they are spiritually dead, they become elitists and act out of insecurities to try to rise above others trying to act so self-confident and such know it all's as if what they think is the only right ideology or way to think, this is the mentality today of most in academia and the liberal left, they all act so self-confident, without God, but it is all really a disguise, a coverup for their insecurities, the truth, God, and what is right and holy in our lives today. Many today use their liberal left ideology of CRT, DEI, hate, Trans, and woke ideology to promote of position of political correctness, yet it is so obvious that they lack God, law and order, Jesus, discipline, and a real moral compass, they act out of anger, slothfulness, envy, jealousy, selfishness, lust, sin, pride, ego, hate, and letting their pridefulness and self-confidence dominate their agenda and mindset in their profession, if you are not part of this groupthink, then you are banished, cancelled, and admonished, like many conservatives and Christians are today, as if you are a Jesus freak or someone who relies on or talks about Jesus too much, as if we are less. Much of this so called self-confidence we see today, is actually just the opposite, it is insecurity at its highest level, those with faith, can be humble and trusting in the Lord and do not need to gloat or act confident or cancel others, they know that God is above all and has it for them, they do not need to over actuate like we see from some in academia today in the news or at a conference, etc. The death of spiritual growth is evident in academia for sure today, ironically many universities started as cloisters and monasteries for the religious to focus on Christ, meditation, reflection, and prayer. Today they are places of indoctrination for the liberal left mindset of a woke ideology and if you do not conform, you are cancelled and criticized, and called a racist, fascist, or worse. Please pray for the fake self-confident who really lack God and the spiritual growth they need to really advance our civilization to higher levels for God!
