Do you know why God has you here on Earth? Have you considered what your calling from God is for humanity?

Consider your own calling, brothers and sisters.

Not many of you were wise by human standards,
not many were powerful,
not many were of noble birth.
Rather, God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong,
and God chose the lowly and despised of the world,
those who count for nothing,
to reduce to nothing those who are something,
so that no human being might boast before God.
It is due to him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who became for us wisdom from God,
as well as righteousness, sanctification, and redemption,
so that, as it is written,
Whoever boasts, should boast in the Lord.

~1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Do you know why God has you here on Earth? Have you considered what your calling from God is for humanity? Today in the Catholic mass they celebrate the memorial of St. John the Baptist. He knew his calling, he was called to tell people to repent of their sins and get ready for the Messiah, Jesus. John had a purpose. Today in the Gospel reading, we see that John the Baptist is killed by Herod to please his wives daughter. John the Baptist called Herod out for being a sinner, marrying his brothers wife. He did not want to kill him, until he promised his step daughter as she pleased him in a dance. He had John the Baptist beheaded as his wife wanted this, Herodias really wanted this. John was an innocent man, a wise man, he preached the good word, the coming of the Messiah, and to repent of our sins. Today, many do not want you to talk about sin at all. We are all sinners, we can be very bad, but we need to turn from our sin and hate, and love like Jesus. Peter had a calling, so did Mary. Daniel, Joseph, and even David. They all had a calling from God. Do you know what your calling is? You may not become famous like Dolly Parton, President Donald Trump, Albert Einstein, and other humans, while Jesus is both human and Divine, He is the most important role model for us and our calling. He knows our hearts. He wants us to be upright and holy, to be humble and a servant. We are all called, we all have a calling whether we think we do or not. Thank hard, what do you think your calling is in life? Will you sing for others, lead for others, or produce the next great scientific phenomenon? Or will you be like St. John the Baptist and lead others to Jesus and having them repent from sin? Will you work toward being a saint for God or for things of this world? The only thing we should be boasting about is the Lord! Putting Jesus on a pedestal, giving Him all the honor and glory, living up to being more like Him, turning from sin and hate, loving all people and knowing that when we follow Jesus, we are promised life eternal in Heaven with Him! Give Jesus all the glory like St. John did! May God be all the glory! Live your life bringing others to Christ!
