Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them. -Jesus
The Lord said:
“Woe to you Pharisees!
You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb,
but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God.
These you should have done, without overlooking the others.
Woe to you Pharisees!
You love the seat of honor in synagogues
and greetings in marketplaces.
Woe to you!
You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk.”
Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply,
“Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.”
And he said, “Woe also to you scholars of the law!
You impose on people burdens hard to carry,
but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them.”
~Luke 11:42-46
Are you paying no attention to judgment and to love for God? Are you loving all people, your neighbors, your enemies, your President, all people? Today we see so many people so full of hate and evil. They hate and hate, judge, sin, and persecute others. They act elitist and above others, as if they are more intelligent or better. We see it all the time, with scholars, in academia, the elected, especially the democrats with all their hate. We used to go to a church when we first moved here that had a priest who we would see in church, he gave good homilies, was so worldly and well spoken, but could never practice what he preached. He was void of all decency to look up, say hello, smile, acknowledge people. He instead, ignored, avoided, dismissed, and was indifferent with us his parishioners. We would see the priest at church and even at the gym, but he would have nothing to do with us. He did ask us once after about three months after we stopped going to that church if we still attended, and we just said no, we go to a different church now. We found a nice priest, an old English Priest, Father John who was kind, warm, accepting, loving, and embracing of us from the moment we switched to that new church. He even invited us to happy hours after mass. He was loving for sure, so different from our old priest who would never look at us or be bothered to speak to us. Yes, there are so many people scholars, priests, Pharisees, they act all so high and mighty, so elite, and above us all, but right cannot lift one finger to touch them! It is so true, we have seen it all, we have to put our trust in God, only He deserves to be on a pedestal. We are called to follow Jesus! We are to carry our crosses, the burdens of our lives, being upright, holy, kind, and loving, lifting our fingers in love!
