And yet you are a man, and not a god, however you may think yourself like a god!

 

The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man,

say to the prince of Tyre: 

Thus says the Lord GOD:

Because you are haughty of heart,

you say, “A god am I!

I occupy a godly throne

in the heart of the sea!”—

And yet you are a man, and not a god,

however you may think yourself like a god.

Oh yes, you are wiser than Daniel,

there is no secret that is beyond you.

By your wisdom and your intelligence

you have made riches for yourself;

You have put gold and silver

into your treasuries.

By your great wisdom applied to your trading

you have heaped up your riches;

your heart has grown haughty from your riches–

therefore thus says the Lord GOD:

Because you have thought yourself

to have the mind of a god,

Therefore I will bring against you

foreigners, the most barbarous of nations.

They shall draw their swords

against your beauteous wisdom,

they shall run them through your splendid apparel.

They shall thrust you down to the pit, there to die

a bloodied corpse, in the heart of the sea.

Will you then say, “I am a god!”

when you face your murderers?

No, you are man, not a god,

handed over to those who will slay you.

You shall die the death of the uncircumcised

at the hands of foreigners,

for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD.

~Ezekiel 28:1-10

Today's mass reading was really appropriate for what is going on today in our country and world. We have such corrupted elected, governments, and powers that be. They think they are God, they only care about power, money, gold, things of this world, being selfish, greedy, corrupt, committing fraud, and being very mediocre, especially with fiscal responsibility and law and order matters. They think they can outsmart God, as if they are a god, but they are not. God knows what they are doing! Today so many in power sin and do so much evil, they hurt the people they are supposed to represent, getting all on vices, being drunks, alcoholics, druggies, gamblers, sex addicts, they like all sick people, they like people not practicing a faith or following Jesus, they love people who are consumed by this world, doing evil, wickedness, and sin, we live in a world of sin. We see leaders today say they love their country, but they love money more, selling their country out to so many other countries for millions of dollars, how sad, sound familiar with what the Bible verse above talks about? They think they are god. The scum of the earth today is running things, are hateful, violent, and never want anyone to point out their hate and mediocrity. God knows. He will take care of it all! He knows our hearts! God has spoken and He will address it all and make it right! That is what we have to have faith in, trust in Jesus, follow Him, do the upright, holy, and calling we are given to follow Jesus, knowing to live in Spirit and our home is in Heaven with Jesus as we are Citizens of Heaven, not of this world! Give all glory to God!
